PROPORTIONS NOT CORRECT (paper tilted forward)- reference for how dark it looks in person
I am having a weird issue where the shading looks a lot darker in real life than it does when I take a picture (even with adjustments to the photo). It looks odd when I try to darken it, but I may try for another pass (if I am able to before class).
But hey, it does look like a face!
I am so excited to see this drawing progress!
This looks awesome! You do a really good job balancing the light tones, dark tones and midtones, and everything blends together smoothly. In fact, I think there are a few places in the drawing where there’s actually more of a gradual transition than there is in the reference, such as on your forehead. I especially like the execution of the reflection in your eyes. Great work!
J, BRAVO!! What a wonderful self portrait. The directional light, volume of the head and hat, psychology and emotive quality are spot on! I look forward to working with you next semester in Drawing II-you are ready! Thanks for a wonderful semester and congrats!
